PETAL PALETTE

Every Saturday morning, I hold two drop in classes that I call Breakfast Club.  It is a fun way to start your day, make a beautiful card and enjoy the rest of your day.

This is the card I designed for yesterday’s class.  I used the Petal Palette Bundle, Stampin’ Blends and the Layering Square Framelits to make this card.  It is relatively simple.  The hardest thing is nesting the two square framelits together to make the “frame” that the flowers rest on.

Here is a closer look.

If you are local to the Canton, MI area, I would love to have you join us for Breakfast Club.

This Little Piggy

Doesn’t this card make you smile?  I designed this card a while back for one of my Breakfast Club Classes.  It was such a big hit with my friends that I couldn’t let another chance go by to share it with my readers.

Tips & Tricks

  • I stamped the image with Black Archival Ink on a piece of Whisper White card stock that I had cropped with the Triple Banner Punch.
  • I stamped a second image on a piece of Shimmer White card stock.  I watercolored this image with Powder Pink ink using my favorite Aqua Painters.
  • The little piggy is fussy cut and popped up with dimensionals.

Count My Blessings Birthday

This is one of those stamp sets I didn’t think I needed.  Now, I can’t get enough of it.  Has that ever happened to you?  I love how this card turned out.

Tips and Tricks
  • Card base is 4-1/4 X 11, scored at 5-1/2 (very vanilla cs)
  • 1st layer is 5-1/4 X 4 (Pumpkin Pie CS)
  • 2nd layer is 5 X 3-3/4 (Very Vanilla CS, embossed with pinewood planks embossing folder)
  • 3rd layer is 1-1/2 X 5 (Spooky Night DSP)
  • Add a strip of Gold Fold next to the Spooky Night DSP
  • 4th layer is 3 X 3 (Pumpkin Pie CS, cropped with Layering Squares Thinlits Dies)
  • 5th layer is 3 X 3 (Watercolor CS, stamp image with Versamark and emboss with Gold Embossing Powder, color with Pumpkin Pie and Pear Pizzaz ink using a blender pen, crop with Stitched Framelit Dies)
  • Stamp an additional floral image on Watercolor CS, emboss and heat with Gold Embossing Powder.  Fussy cut the flower and place on top of the original flower and just adhere the stems with glue so the flowers remain loose.
  • Stamp the “Happy Birthday” image on a piece of Very Vanilla cut at 1/2 X 3-1/2.  Place dimensions on the back and add a piece of vellum cut at 3/4 X 3-3/4.  Adhere to card.
  • Add a bow using Gold 1/8″ Ribbon.

WILD ABOUT FLOWERS AND MELON MAMBO

I have another Breakfast Club card to show you.  I paired Melon Mambo with my “go to” green, Pear Pizzazz.  It seems as though Pear Pizzazz works well with any color.

I also used Pear Pizzazz when lining the envelope.  I love lining the envelope to give my cards the finishing touch.  I am sad that the Envelope Liner Framelits will be retiring at the end of May.  To see what is retiring, CLICK HERE.
Here is a closer look as well as a peak of the inside of the card.
JULIE’S TIPS:
  • I used Watercolor Paper for an additional texture.
  • Add the leaf from the Rose Garden Thinlits Dies.
  • I stamped the images twice without re-inking for a shadow effect.
  • Tie the envelope and the inside of the card together by adding matching DSP.
